Photographs come from your imagination, your needs and desires. A camera is just a machine and can only do what it is told.Learning to take practical and creative control of your camera is vital to making good photographs.

This introductory session is designed to spark your imagination with the possibilities that come from linking vision and craft. Vision and craft form the foundation of making good photographs - photographs that will please both you and others. The session is oriented toward film cameras, however digital users are most welcome.

Learn:
- Practical, beginning steps to use your camera.
- Why film is a decidedly good option for making fine photographs.
- How to express mood and atmosphere in your photographs.
- How a camera sees more and differently than we do - and how to use this creatively.

Cost:
$99 per person

3 hour course. Suitable for Age 16+
Number of participants is limited.

About the tutors:

David Roberts and Kate Baker are both full time, exhibiting, fine art photographers who live in the Don Valley. They work predominantly with black and white photography. David has exhibited widely, has works held in a number of public institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, the National Library of Australia and the State Library of Victoria along with many private collections.

As a photographer Kate has achieved some notable early successes including being a finalist in the 2008 Olive Cotton Award for Excellence in Portraiture, critical acclaim for her 2008 exhibition Unseen Hopes & Dreams and publication of her first book Fridays at Oasis.
