ClassB+W Photography: An extensive introduction

Black and white photography is a beautiful and time honoured means of expression.

This two day workshop is designed to offer hands-on experience with the making of black and white photographs.Enrollment is limited to six in order to provide individual attention.

Topics covered include:
- Seeing photographically - an introduction.
- Understanding exposure.
- Cameras - an overview of possibilities
- Lenses -choices and reasons
- Film and silver gelatin photographic papers - an explanation.
- How to develop film.
- How to review negatives.
- Making a contact sheet - a darkroom experience.
- A printing demonstration.

Also included:
- Course notes.
- Includes visual display using slide projector

Workshop is suitable for beginning and intermediate photographers.
Student are responsible for providing their own film. Film is available at Acme-etal.

Saturday April 14 - 10am-4pm
Sunday April 15 - 9am-3pm
$495 per person

About the tutors:
David Roberts and Kate Baker are both full time, exhibiting, fine art photographers who live in the Don Valley. They work predominantly with black and white photography. David has exhibited widely, has works held in a number of public institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, the National Library of Australia and the State Library of Victoria along with many private collections.

As a photographer Kate has achieved some notable early successes including being a finalist in the 2008 Olive Cotton Award for Excellence in Portraiture, critical acclaim for her 2008 exhibition Unseen Hopes & Dreams and publication of her first book Fridays at Oasis.
